UKGCC Constitutes A New Governing Council And A UK Advisory Board

Accra, 25th February 2010 – The UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC) is happy to announce that following the expiration of the tenure of its Governing Council in 2019, it has constituted a new Governing Council to supervise the work of the Chamber.

The Council which is chaired by Mr Anthony Pile, Founder and Chairman of Blue Skies Company Limited, brings together seasoned professionals from diverse economic sectors, who bring onboard key expertise and knowledge into the work of the Chamber.

The other members of the Governing Council are Mr. Steven Gray, West Africa Representative of UK Export Finance; Mr. Robin McCone, Tax Lead at Ernst & Young Ghana; Mrs. Audrey Mensah, Executive Recruiter and Managing Director at Indelible Limited and Mr. Michael Gyapah, Managing Director at G4S Ghana.  The others are Mr. Benedict Rich, Managing Director at Golden Exotics; Ms. Alice Asafu-Adjaye, Founder and Managing Director at Mustard, the architectural firm; Mr. Theophilus Tawiah, Managing Partner at Wts Nobisfields and Mr. John Addo Kufuor, Founder and Managing Director at The Africa Regent Hotel.

Commenting, Mr Pile, who was also the Chairman of the immediate past Governing Council said “on behalf of the UKGCC, I would like to thank the old Board on the tremendous work they did following the establishment of the Chamber in setting the tone for the Chamber’s work to promote bilateral trade partnerships between the UK and Ghana. I am delighted to welcome the new members to the Board and look forward to working them.  The new members reflect the different sectors the membership of the Chamber work in and we are confident that they will provide valuable perspectives as we continue to execute our strategy”, he concluded.

H.E. Iain Walker, British High Commissioner to Ghana remains the honorary patron of the Chamber in Ghana.

In view of its work to create a platform to increase trade and investments between Ghana and the United Kingdom, the UKGCC has also set up an Advisory Board to be based in the UK.  The members are Paul Akwaboah, Creative Director at AM Group UK; Linda Wayoe, an Executive Director at AM Group UK and Doug Lacey, a Senior Advisor at LeapFrog Strategic Africa Investments.

The Advisory Board is chaired by Mr. Akwaboah and will provide support to the Governing Council and management of the UKGCC particularly in the areas of fundraising and organisation of events in the UK.  They come with extensive business networks and a wealth of experience in diverse fields.  They are all connected to Ghana in one way or another.  H.E. Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK is the honorary patron of the UKGCC in the UK.
