Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness & Industry

Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness & Industry is the lead policy advisor to government on trade, industrial and private sector development with responsibility for the formulation and implementation of policies for the promotion, growth and development of domestic and international trade and industry. The Ministry is also the advocate for the private sector within government and is the principal agency responsible for monitoring and implementing the Government’s private sector development programmes and activities.

Ministry of Finance

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) is one of the central management agencies of the civil service of Ghana. The Ministry used to be known as Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. However, the planning function was ceded to the National Development Planning Commission in view of Article 87 of the 1992 Constitution.

The Ministry was established under section 11 & 13 of the Civil Service Law 1993(PNDCL 327) and amended by an Executive instrument 28(E.I 28) Civil Service (Ministries) (Amendment instrument,2017) to ensure effective and efficient Macroeconomic and financial management of Ghana’s economy.

Office of the Registrar of Companies

The Office of the Registrar of Companies was established under the Ordinance 1950 during the Colonial days. It became a department of the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General in 1961.

Our aim is to become a highly progressive department that efficiently serves it customers by becoming a highly strategic partner to businesses and stakeholders.

We are also mandated by the Government to ensure an efficient and effective administration of entities inter –alia the registration of businesses, industrial property, marriages, administration of estates, and public trustees, to provide customer friendly services and accurate data for national planning. 

Ghana Free Zones Authority

The Ghana Free Zones Program is designed to promote processing and manufacturing of goods through the establishment of Export Processing Zones (EPZs), and encourage the development of commercial and service activities at sea and air-port areas. In essence the whole of Ghana is accessible to potential investors who have the opportunity to use the free zones as a focal point to produce goods and services for foreign markets.

Ghana Standards Authority

Ghana Standards Authority is an Agency of Government responsible for developing, publishing and promoting standards in the country.

It does this through standardisation, metrology and conformity assessment activities. Some of these activities are testing, inspection and certification. These activities ensure that products or goods and services produced in Ghana, whether for local consumption or for export are safe, reliable and are of good quality.

Foods and Drugs Authority

The FDA is the National Regulatory Body responsible for the regulation of food, drugs, food supplements, herbal and homeopathic medicines, veterinary medicines, cosmetics, medical devices, household chemical substances, tobacco and tobacco products, blood and blood products as well as the conduct of clinical trials protocols.

The Public Health Act, 2012, Act 851 provides for the establishment of a Governing Board with the responsibility of ensuring the effective implementation of the functions of the Authority. The Authority currently has eleven-member Governing Board.

Ghana Immigration Service

The Service as a paramilitary institution with the name GHANA IMMIGRATION SERVICE was established by the Immigration Service Act, 1989 (PNDCL 226) which has now been repealed by Immigration Service Act, 2016 (Act 908). The Immigration Act 2000 (Act 573) mandates GIS to regulate and monitor the residence and employment of foreign nationals and the entry and exit of all persons
