Investing in Ghana’s future one smile at a time: Pepsodent’s Schools Programme

For more than two decades, Unilever Ghana’s oral care brand Pepsodent, has championed oral health education among schoolchildren across Ghana. Through its Schools Programme, the brand has reached more than 15 million schoolchildren over the years, helping generations of young Ghanaians understand the importance of good oral hygiene and develop healthy habits that can last a lifetime.

At the heart of the programme is a simple but important belief: preventive healthcare begins with education. We at Pepsodent believe that by equipping children with practical knowledge about oral hygiene, Pepsodent is investing not only in healthier smiles, but also in the long-term wellbeing of families and communities across Ghana.

Through school visits, interactive educational sessions and practical toothbrushing demonstrations, pupils learn how to care for their teeth, the importance of brushing twice daily and the role of preventive care in maintaining healthy teeth and gums. The lessons often extend beyond the classroom, as children share their knowledge with parents, siblings and friends, helping to raise awareness of the importance of oral healthcare within their communities.

This approach reflects Pepsodent’s belief that improving oral health requires more than access to quality products. It also requires education, consistent positive habits and collaboration with stakeholders committed to better health outcomes.

In 2026, Pepsodent reinforced this commitment through its “Do The 2” campaign, encouraging Ghanaians to brush every morning and every night. By turning an important health message into a simple daily routine, the campaign aims to make preventive oral care more accessible and achievable for children and families across the country.

Partnerships are central to this ambition. Through collaboration with the Ghana Dental Association (GDA) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Unilever Ghana supports efforts to strengthen oral health education and extend awareness to schools and communities. These partnerships demonstrate the value of collaboration between the private sector, healthcare professionals and public institutions in addressing community health needs.

The Schools Programme illustrates how sustained corporate investment can contribute to social development. By promoting health education from an early age, businesses can help establish positive behaviours, empower families with knowledge and contribute to the long-term wellbeing of the communities in which they operate.

As Ghana continues to pursue inclusive growth and human capital development, initiatives that equip children with essential health knowledge remain particularly valuable. Pepsodent’s Schools Programme reflects Unilever Ghana’s commitment to using its brands’ expertise and partnerships to create meaningful and lasting impact.

Looking ahead, Pepsodent remains committed to a wider reach for our schools’ program to encourage better oral hygiene and help more children build healthy habits for life. Because at Pepsodent we believe investing in healthier children today is an investment in a healthier, more confident generation tomorrow.

Pepsodent. Do The 2. Brush Every morning and night.
