Accra, Ghana. 7th August 2025. The UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC) extends its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to His Excellency the President, the government, and people of Ghana following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight public officials, including two Cabinet Ministers, on Wednesday, 6 August 2025.

We are profoundly saddened by this national tragedy.  We especially mourn the loss of the Honourable Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI), and Member of Parliament for Tamale Central. Dr. Muhammed, through MESTI, was a key partner in our shared mission to foster economic growth and technological advancement in Ghana.  His leadership and commitment to collaboration and sustainable development was an inspiration to us all, and his passing leaves a significant void in our partnership.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna; Dr. Samuel Sarpong; Mr. Samuel Aboagye; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu; Sgt Ernest Addo Mensah; as well as the Ghana Armed Forces and the government.

The UKGCC stands in solidarity with the Republic of Ghana during this period of national mourning.  We remain committed to our mission of deepening trade and investment between the United Kingdom and Ghana, and we will continue to honour the legacies of these dedicated public servants through our ongoing work.
