Kempinski Lights the Way: Promoting Road Safety and Sustainability
Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City advocates for safe cycling in the city.

Accra, 25 August 2025 – Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra reinforced its commitment to enhancing road safety and promoting sustainable practices through its activities aimed at reducing its carbon footprint and fostering eco-friendly initiatives.
The campaign, which took place on Thursday, 25 August 2025, was part of the hotel’s 10-year anniversary celebration under its 10 Acts of Kindness initiative. Dubbed ‘Kempinski Saves at Night’, this CSR activity involved the distribution of torch lights and reflector vests to bicycle riders, underscoring the luxury 5-star hotel’s dedication to the well-being of the community and the environment.
The primary objective of the initiative was to improve road safety for cyclists, who are particularly vulnerable. With increasing numbers of cyclists and riders on the roads and growing concerns about emissions and climate change, as well as their safety, it is vital to ensure that those who choose sustainable transport options are protected and empowered. Distributing high-visibility gear is a simple yet impactful way to enhance riders’ safety and encourage more people to switch to bicycles. The day’s activity brought together Kempinski staff, community members and cycling enthusiasts, all eager to support a cause that merges safety with environmental responsibility. More than 100 sets of safety gear were handed out to riders, many of whom rely on bicycles as their primary mode of transportation.

By providing essential safety equipment, Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City aims to reduce accidents and promote safer cycling practices. Complementing this, the hotel is actively promoting sustainable transportation options, including the use of bamboo bicycles. Bamboo bicycles offer a low-carbon alternative to traditional bikes, contributing to a significant reduction in carbon footprint. This initiative aligns with the hotel’s broader mission to foster environmental stewardship and advocate for eco-friendly practices.
“At Kempinski, we believe that safety and sustainability go hand in hand. By equipping cyclists with the tools they need and promoting eco-friendly alternatives, we’re not just making our roads safer today, but we’re also investing in a healthier planet for tomorrow,’ said Hotel Manager, Etienne Joguin.

The activity is a testament to Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City’s ongoing efforts to create a safer, more sustainable community.
The event concluded with a safety briefing, emphasising the importance of obeying traffic rules, using protective gear and being aware of road conditions. This highlights how education and awareness go hand in hand with practical measures to ensure safety.
