Accra, 14 March 2024 — On the occasion of the one-year anniversary of BE Health, the flagship corporate social responsibility programme of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra, the luxury 5-star hotel donated a total of GHS 105,000 to Breast Care International (BCI) Ghana to support the NGO’s endeavours in promoting breast cancer awareness.

In 2023, Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra launched BE Health and has committed to sponsoring a number of healthcare professionals through BCI Ghana as they attain oncology training, as well as supporting the provision of quality breast health education, clinical screening, counselling, research and treatments of patients affected by breast cancer. Through these efforts, the hotel hopes to improve public health outcomes and foster community wellbeing.

The BE Health initiative also encourages hotel guests to make a difference by voluntarily donating GHS 15 with every night stay at the hotel or with every purchase of the ‘BE Health Elixir’ cocktail. Due to its immense success since its launch, the BE Health initiative by Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra in aid of BCI Ghana won the Best Charity Initiative under the category of Hospitality for a Charity in the prestigious 2023 Hospitality Awards held in France.

Receiving the donation, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai, President of BCI Ghana, expressed gratitude to the management of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra. ‘This is the largest donation we’ve received from a single institution, and we’re truly grateful to Kempinski for the support over the past year.’

She continued to advocate for the health of women citing that more women are diagnosed with breast cancer daily and encouraged all to give them hope, empower and encourage them to visit hospitals should they see any changes in their breasts.
