Under the theme, ‘creating a culture of inclusivity: together we rise’, the ShePower project aims to create an inclusive environment where women can thrive, contribute their unique perspectives, and shape their future. This ties in with the Sustainable Development Goal 5 to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Some of the initiatives under this project includes mentorship sessions, capacity building workshops, career guidance and counselling and leadership programmes aimed at addressing cultural, mindset and behaviour shifts and believing that women can break the glass ceiling.

Speaking at the launch, Human Resources Manager of Vivo Energy Ghana, Mercy Amoah, reiterated the company’s commitment to creating an enabling environment where every woman can thrive, be heard, respected, and valued. “In our strategic direction, female diversity has been called out as an enabler to achieving our vision of becoming the leading and most respected energy business in Africa. For instance, every single one of our operating units across over 20 countries have a female diversity measurable target”, she said.
